About Us

Ajani Neighbourhood House

Ajani Neighbourhood House Inc. is a community hub and registered charity committed to supporting wellbeing and strengthening connections. We provide a welcoming space where people can take part in activities, build friendships, and feel a sense of belonging.

Our mission is to empower individuals, foster community connectedness, and reduce disadvantage and isolation in a safe and supportive environment. Guided by our vision of a thriving, inclusive community where everyone feels valued and supported, we work to promote positive mental health, reduce social isolation, and create opportunities for people to flourish together.

Our Journey

1989

A committee was funded to create a community house in Bulleen. The first classes were in ESL, crafts, and cooking, all run by volunteers, and Bulleen and Templestowe Community House (BATCH) was created.

Over the years, more programs were added, like "Strong People Stay Young," computer classes, and programs for young people with disabilities.

2012

The centre moved to a new facility at Ted Ajani Reserve and two years later the name was changed from BATCH to Living and Learning @ Ajani to reflect the new location.

2015

The Hub café opens - becoming a thriving meeting place for the local community. It is also a training ground for adults, including adults with a disability, where they can boost their hospitality and barista skills, as well as develop their confidence and job readiness for future employment.

2024

Now

We changed our name to Ajani Neighbourhood House to better reflect who we are as an organisation and what we bring to the community.

Today we offer more than 40 courses and activities every term along with

initiatives like our Social Enterprise Café and the Food Pantry.
