We are always on the lookout for volunteers to be part of our centre’s welcoming community. Whether you enjoy working in the kitchen, helping out in the café, or getting your hands dirty as a volunteer gardener, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Volunteering is a great way to share your skills, meet new people and help create a warm, vibrant space for everyone.

Gardening Tutor
We're looking for a new tutor for our pre-accredited Employability through Community Gardening Course.
The course runs for 10 weeks each term, 3 hrs per session (total of 30 hours teaching time). The course is run using two community garden spaces, a small rear courtyard garden, and larger licensed community garden area. There is also a classroom space available to teach theoretical aspects. The class runs on Tuesday mornings, 9:30am to 12:30pm.
The course is run as a pre-accredited course, and can provide a pathway to further study, volunteering and employment.
The right person will have:
-
A good knowledge of permaculture or horticulture
-
An ability to relate to a wide variety of people
-
Patience and a desire to encourage students to continue learning
-
A desire to include both theoretical and practical aspects in their teaching and to run a structured course (which can be adjusted, but we would strongly prefer not to run the course on a week by week by week basis)
-
An ability to include hands on exercises and practical demonstrations, modelling and projects into their class.
There is no need to have any specific training qualifications, but industry experience, or a certificate IV in Permaculture or PDC would be advantageous.
Conditions of employment include a current Working with Children Check and a successful reference check.
