Humanitarian Day Lunch returns to ANH

Following the success of its inaugural event last year, the World Humanitarian Day Long Lunch will return to Ajani Neighbourhood House on Thursday 20 August 2026, bringing people together in a celebration of community, connection and compassion.

In a world that can often feel fragmented and disconnected, the long lunch offers a meaningful opportunity to gather around the table, share stories, and recognise the many acts of kindness that strengthen our community every day.

The event asks participants to come along with a dish of their choosing. We end up with a diverse array of delicious foods from across the globe, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of Manningham and the universal values that underpin humanitarian action.

The lunch is designed to be a relaxed and informal occasion, encouraging conversation and connection across different backgrounds and experiences. Guests will have the opportunity to meet local residents, learn more about the work being undertaken across the community, and share meaningful conversations over a meal.

By returning for a second year, the Humanitarian Day Long Lunch continues to build on its vision of fostering understanding, belonging and social connection, while recognising that even small acts of compassion can have a lasting impact on the lives of others.

We look forward to welcoming the community once again for this special celebration of humanitarian spirit in action.
