After recently moving to the Manningham area from Tasmania to be closer to her children, Kerry found herself navigating the challenge of settling into a new neighbourhood and building new connections. Semi-retired and looking for ways to meet people and feel part of the community, she decided to step outside her comfort zone and try something new.
That “something new” was our Mediterranean Cooking Class.
What started as a simple decision to join a class quickly became much more. Kerry was warmly welcomed by the wonderfully bubbly duo, Nella and Carla, and soon found herself laughing, learning and bonding with fellow participants over shared meals, stories and recipes.
Like so many things at Ajani Neighbourhood House, the class became more than just an activity — it became a doorway to connection, belonging and purpose.
Since then, Kerry has generously lent a hand in the office, becoming a familiar and valued part of the Ajani community.
Her story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes the smallest steps — walking into a class, saying hello, trying something different — can lead to wonderful new beginnings.
